Application Selection Criteria for Medical Sciences

This is a presentation beginning promptly at 6pm. Parents will participate in a presentation and Q & A session with the director, principal, counseling and student representatives in the auditorium. Students will experience center classes and  informative Q & A with current center students.

Attendees arriving late will not be able to receive the full center experience.

Doors open at 5:45 p.m.

Before Applying

Teacher recommendations: Request recommendations from two teachers at your school. The teachers should be from a core subject area (math, English, science or history). Each time you select a teacher, save your application. Once you have made two selections, click once on the “Complete Recommendations” button.

HCPS Specialty Center Information

  • Sept. 12, 2026 at Highland Springs H.S. (11 a.m.-2 p.m.)
  • Sept. 24, 2026 at J.R. Tucker H.S. (6:00-8:00 p.m.)

Requirements

  • Algebra I in middle school
  • Results of HCPS specialty center math and reading tests.
  • Evaluation of written response to CMS project prompt.
  • Strength of two teacher recommendations.
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Demonstrated interest in pursuing a medical career.
  • School attendance.
  • Recommendation of the selection committee.
